Furoshiki

The husband started looking into furoshiki after seeing the traditional technique used in some anime. He started doing research into the type of cloth to use/buy and Lo and behold we found we had already purchased a furoshiki cloth at a garage sale. I've been experimenting with using the cloth to buy vegetables and carry them home. No plastic bags, no cumbersome backpack that I can't take into the store. I can be supper stylish and wear it as a scarf, belt, shawl, or a pirate hat (of course I'm much more likely to carry the cloth in a pocket).

Check out this handout that explains how you can make different things with a cloth.

There are also tons of videos of people displaying different patterns.  Most of the current excitement is about using the cloths as gift wrapping, but the cloths are very functional.
