So, I found the following numbers scribbled on a post-it note on the floor.
20x5 16x25 5x100
30x5 18x25 4x100
30x5 18x25 4x100
25x5 15x25 6x50 2x100
Along with these numbers were other similar sets that had been scribbled out. I saw him at lunch, and he had the same types of numbers written on his hand. It baffled me till my husband emerged from the internet and his thoughts and said, “You know, if you’re going to play poker, you might as well have lots of chips. It makes you feel better. It makes you want to play more because you’re thinking ‘look at all the chips I have, I can afford to put in a few on this bid’. It was then that I realized that the numbers were his attempt to develop the perfect chip distribution. The numbers on the left are numbers of chips, and the numbers on the right are denominations of chips. So, 16x25 would mean 16 chips at 25 cents apiece.
I then found a note with ALL the rules of Texas Hold’em scribbled in short hand on the front and back of three pieces of small paper.
I think this may all have something to do with the game of Texas Hold’em he played yesterday with some friends.
That's incredibly awesome. I want to generate random numbers from things I have around the house, and bingo, one google search led me here.
ReplyDeleteYour husband is a funny guy, and good for you for compiling his bursts of attention into something usable. I'm actually currently doing the same with my scribblings from 2003 - journal.gerbus.ca :)
