The Best Charcoal Grill

So back in May (2009), someone asked my husband to recommend a grill. They wanted it to be a charcoal grill and they didn’t want to spend a lot. I remember him diving into the literature and emerging with a clear winner. He suggested that the absolute best charcoal grill (for less than $200) was the 22.5" Weber One Touch Gold, which cost about $137.32.

Why was this such a winner? His notes said simple design, low price, good construction, versatility, and good accessories. He recommended the drip pan ($9.99), a work table ($42.95- but well worth the money), and an optional rotisserie attachment ($117.85).
I ran across his notes the other day, and decided to go ahead and buy everything on the list but the rotisserie. Won’t he be surprised.

  1. Got this. After putting it together, I am astounded by how well made, well designed this is.

  2. Tried out the grill this weekend (7/18?2009) and it worked very well. The shape of the hood reflects heat down so that it cooks food better. 7 minutes for perfect hamburgers. It was also amazingly easy to clean.
